Stars in the Dark hard enamel pin was created to help spread awareness. Mental illness impacts not only the sufferer, but those who love and care for them. It can be challenging and complex but that support is vital to those who need the help. Anyone supporting someone with a mental illness, should be aware of its impact on both parties and seek help if needed.

Sometimes artists give visual forms to issues, ideas and conflicts they deal with. I see my mental illness artistically as a night stag, wandering the forest of my consciousness. A dark figure, part of who I am, but lordly and a prince of my domain dictating rule and law, often in opposition to what I want and need. Still, I have to find a way to live with it, endure it, so it will return to its forest wanderings, leaving me a survivor in the woods of my own soul.
