Suicide Awareness hard enamel pin was created to help spread awareness. An effort to spread understanding on the stigmatized, taboo subject of suicide, that is often a result of a mental health condition. Those at risk of suicide usually show signs of needing help, not truly wanting to die, but seeing no other way out. It is a way of wanting to end pain and darkness caused by the condition. Many don’t know resources exist for sufferers and their supporters.

Sometimes artists give visual forms to issues, ideas and conflicts they deal with. I see my mental illness artistically as a night stag, wandering the forest of my consciousness. A dark figure, part of who I am, but lordly and a prince of my domain dictating rule and law, often in opposition to what I want and need. Still, I have to find a way to live with it, endure it, so it will return to its forest wanderings, leaving me a survivor in the woods of my own soul.
