It is the Night Stag hard enamel pin was created to help spread mental illness awareness. Surviving mental illness is a many varied thing. The struggle and the process can be unique to the one suffering. It can feel like you have a darkness inside you.

Sometimes artists give visual forms to issues, ideas and conflicts they deal with. I see my mental illness artistically as a night stag, wandering the forest of my consciousness. A dark figure, part of who I am, but lordly and a prince of my domain dictating rule and law, often in opposition to what I want and need. Still, I have to find a way to live with it, endure it, so it will return to its forest wanderings, leaving me a survivor in the woods of my own soul.
