The Depression hard enamel pin was created to help spread awareness. Major depressive disorder negatively effects emotions, thinking and behavior, causing feelings of sadness and extreme hopelessness. It has many forms, symptoms and greatly impacts daily life from loss of interest, joy, focus and reason.

Sometimes artists give visual forms to issues, ideas and conflicts they deal with. I see my mental illness artistically as a night stag, wandering the forest of my consciousness. A dark figure, part of who I am, but lordly and a prince of my domain dictating rule and law, often in opposition to what I want and need. Still, I have to find a way to live with it, endure it, so it will return to its forest wanderings, leaving me a survivor in the woods of my own soul.
